Charles Taylor was born in 1889 in West Row (Mildenhall Q4-1889 4A:696) son of Samuel and Emma TAYLOR (née PITCHES). 1891 census...Aged 1, he was Cottage, West Row with his father Samuel TAYLOR [46] farm labourer; his mother Emma [45]; sisters Alice [22], Matilda [9], Edith [7] and Bessie [4]; brothers Samuel [20] and Robert [13] both farm labourers and Isaac [11]. All were recorded as born in Mildenhall. 1901 census...Aged 11, he was at Plough Yard, West Row with his parents; sisters Matilda, Edith and Bessie; brother Isaac (farm labourer). 1911 census...Aged 21, he was at West Row with his parents and brother Isaac. The batteries by this time usually consisted of six 18 pounder field guns, the Brigade being A, B, and C batteries with 18 pounders and D battery having 6 howitzers. The war diary for July 1917 has not been found. On August 1st the Brigade was as shown on the image below. Four other members of the 110th Brigade RFA died that day.
